How has it taken this long for Dalston to get its own record fair?

Due to popular demand, the team behind Hackney Flea Market have announced the launch of Hackney Record Fair, a bimonthly coming together of independent labels and private sellers in east London.

The extensive list of local and DIY labels already confirmed include Houndstooth, Erased Tapes, Kit Records and Fortuna Pop, with new releases being shifted alongside second hand vinyl, homemade cassettes, VHS and fanzines. Interestingly, unlike London’s more established label markets ILM and Peckham’s Independent Label Fair, the Hackney event will also offer a range of vintage gear, with hi-fi specialists Audio Gold set to have their own stall. there will also be a record cleaning service on site to help give your collection a spring clean.

As Mark Farhall of Hackney Flea Market says: “Our record fair will be a chance for visitors to discover independent music labels, new bands, the local DIY scene, get hold of some rare/obscure LPs, cassettes, music ephemera, and vintage/new hi-fi.”

The first event will take place at EPIC in Dalston on Sunday 12th April. Check out the Facebook event for more information.
