Would you spend 18 hours outside in the cold for a copy of ‘The Final Countdown’?

Wondering why there’s a middle aged man sitting on the pavement in a deck chair this afternoon? It’s probably because he’s waiting for Record Store Day. Queues for the day’s much celebrated (and sometimes derided) limited edition releases have been grown year on year, to the point where now, a full eighteen hours before most shops open, a few have already pitched up in true British fashion to make a line at the door.

In awe of their dedication to the cause, we’re putting together a (sort of) live stream of the earliest birds out there that we’ll add to throughout the day, starting with this chap, who has been looking mighty pleased with himself outside Manchester’s Piccadilly Records since 11am this morning.
