Devon Turnbull’s Listening Room at 180 Studios returns this season with a line-up of intimate, high-fidelity events exploring music as deep listening. Across the coming weeks, our resident hosts including Haseeb Iqbal, Tash LC and Charlie Dark and will take over Turnbull’s custom-built sound system for focused sessions spanning dub, soul, electronic experiments, and film soundtracks. Across two distinct nights, broadcaster and DJ Haseeb Iqbal invites listeners on journeys through sound, story, and spirit. In Pakistani Roadtrip Reflections, he shares tales and records from his transformative three-week journey across Pakistan, unearthing the vibrant world of vintage Lollywood, folk, and classical music - a rich archive of rhythm and cinematic emotion that shaped the nation’s cultural identity. In Spiritual Jazz, he explores transcendence through improvisation, faith, and resistance - music that moves beyond genre into ritual, reflection, and release.

Charlie Dark

DJ, and cultural mentor Charlie Dark returns to 180 Studios with two deeply personal sessions. Theo Parrish Pt.2 dives into the hypnotic, percussive world of Parrish’s productions - music built on raw groove, soul, and Detroit grit. Blacktronica revives Charlie’s legendary ICA club night, a celebration of Black electronic pioneers connecting past, present, and future through sound. Expect stories, rhythm, and reflection from a selector whose sets balance energy with meditation, dancefloor with dialogue.

Jonny Trunk

Archivist, collector, and raconteur Jonny Trunk returns with two nights of eccentric wonder. The first dives deep into the cinematic world of Ennio Morricone - lush orchestrations, haunting melodies, and the genius of a composer who redefined film sound. His second session, a Christmas Special, unwraps a trunk of festive curiosities: oddities, vintage vinyl, and forgotten gems that turn nostalgia into mischief. Expect warmth, humour, and impeccable taste in equal measure.

Donna Leake

Across two sessions, Donna Leake invites listeners into deep, soulful worlds of rhythm and reflection. In one, she journeys through Roots music - timeless recordings born from struggle, devotion, and unity, tracing the lineage of sound system culture and spiritual connection. In the other, she delves into the colourful realm of Latin Psych - a fusion of tropical rhythm, mind-expanding melody, and cosmic groove. With her intuitive, story-led selections, Donna connects continents and consciousness in an atmosphere of warmth, ritual, and pure listening pleasure.

Tash LC

November 4, December 12

DJ, broadcaster, and global club innovator Tash LC brings two vibrant journeys through rhythm and movement to 180 Studios. In her first night, she explores the golden era of West African Highlife and Afrobeat - joyous, horn-filled grooves that defined Ghana and Nigeria in the ’60s and inspired generations of global sound. The second dives into Dancehall - tracing its unmistakably Jamaican pulse from early roots and the digital Sleng Teng revolution to the 1990s boom that shaped contemporary club culture worldwide.

Judah Afriye

Across two evenings, Judah Afriyie creates a devotional space for music, reflection, and shared spirit. High Hopes is a listening session, an evening centred in togetherness through sound.
