VF repress Ryoji Ikeda's The Solar System and Code Name: A-Z

Two Ryoji Ikeda records return to vinyl with VF.

Ryoji Ikeda's The Solar System and Code Name: A-Z have both been repressed and are now available from The Vinyl Factory.

First pressed to celebrate the UK premiere of Ikeda’s supersymmetry installation at Brewer Street Car Park in 2015, The Solar System is a 12” vinyl-only release housing 10 locked grooves, each consisting of a unique sine wave with a different frequency correlating to a different planet in the solar system.

Composed and produced by Ikeda, with Rashad Becker on mastering, The Solar System features a screen-printed sleeve and is pressed on 180-gram heavy weight vinyl.

The second repress is Ikeda’s Code Name: A-Z, featuring 26 sonic frequencies derived from military use of Morse code and pressed on 12” clear vinyl. Made up of 13 locked grooves on each side, with the title of each hand-etched into the grooves, the record is housed in Perfect Image white outer and inner sleeve.

The Vinyl Factory has a longstanding relationship with Ryoji Ikeda, collaborating with the Japanese artist and composer on a series of releases and projects exploring the intersection of sound, data and visual art.

Over the years, VF has produced and released several of Ikeda's works on vinyl, including data-cosm [n°1] and Live at The White Cube with Christian Marclay.
