Watch: Jonny Trunk on Christmas Music

Get in the festive spirit with Jonny Trunk.

“Reggae Christmas. Brilliant. I love this record. This track is called "Christmas Shopping’, and it’s the best record about Christmas shopping ever made, because it’s just that: Christmas shopping. I don’t know any other records about Christmas shopping, so it must be the best one.”

Record label founder, broadcaster and musical archaeologist Jonny Trunk enters The Listening Room at 180 Studios for a deep dive into the outer reaches of festive music.

Recorded on Devon Turnbull's sound system, the session combines talk and listening, as Trunk plays through his personal collection of Christmas obscurities. From early lo-fi folk recordings that sound like they were made in someone's front room to an unexpected anthem about Christmas shopping, the selection defies everything you think you know about seasonal music.
