In Purgatory was pressed at The Vinyl Factory in Hayes.
London alt-rock band World News will release their debut album, In Purgatory, on vinyl on October 16.
The record is the first in the new Made at VF series, a curated collection of records pressed at The Vinyl Factory’s plant in Hayes.
Made at VF grew out of the records VF presses and the relationships built with artists visiting the factory. The series offers a way to share that music and support the people making it, connecting the pressing plant, artist and listener.
“We were recommended VF by the good folk at Abbey Road, who said it’s the best place to get your vinyl done,” explains World News.
“We liked the idea of getting our records pressed in London, specifically in Hayes, where the whole town was built around music manufacturing. The team gave us a quick tour, and we loved the idea of pressing on the EMI 1400, which still holds the industry standard for quality.”
Following three EPs and a run of singles since 2020, In Purgatory was recorded at London’s RAK Studios with producer Tommy Bosustow, whose credits include mary in the junkyard and Porridge Radio.
The album features previous singles “Don’t Want to Know” and “Everything Is Coming Up Roses”.
All the records featured in Made at VF are fulfilled directly from the factory to the customer, cutting out distributor costs so more money goes to artists, while reducing the transport and environmental impact associated with additional distribution stages.
In Purgatory arrives on 180g virgin black vinyl, cut at 33rpm. World News will mark its release with a UK and European tour in October, including a headline show at London’s Scala.
