The Specialist: Rockwell on ’80s hardcore

The Specialist is a short film series profiling record collectors through one aspect of their collection that’s particularly important to them.

In this episode, Rockwell shares his love for vintage early ’80s hardcore and its angry, energetic and subversive reaction to commercialism, the music industry and mainstream rock.

His selection includes straight edge band Minor Threat, whose DIY label Discord had a big impact on him; Black Flag’s flawless Damaged which he still comes back to two or three times a week; and Youth Of Today’s mess of an album Can’t Close My Eyes.
