Best combination ever?

After its initial application failed, Amoeba Records is launching a bid to open a cannabis dispensary within its 25 year-old flagship store in Berkeley, California, reports East Bay Express.

Last week, Berkeley City Council voted to add two more medical cannabis dispensaries to the area, given high consumer demand and relatively low supply in the college town. This week the Council will choose from five candidates, of which Amoeba is said to be the strongest contender.

Amoeba is keen to diversify in this climate of falling physical sales. “Weed can help save music — absolutely,” Amoeba co-owner David Prinz has previously said. “College kids don’t buy as much music as they used to. It also fits in with what we do, who we are. It’s counterculture to a very high degree.”

We’ll let you know what happens with the result; fingers crossed for Amoeba. For now take a virtual tour of the chain’s enormous outpost in LA.
