Got soul.

Musician Daniel Freitag’s Project Bootleg might well be the first recorded live performance made by the audience; without them knowing. Taping blank vinyl records to the floors of venues before gigs, Freitag takes the scratches caused by the audience’s dancing feet to create new electronic compositions.

Recording at concerts by Die Antwoord, Gold Panda, The Roots, Apparat, and Deadmau5, the different levels of damage relate to the intensity of the music played, with members of the Daedmau5 crowd causing significantly more than those at Gold Panda. The distorted, glitchy compositions that result are compelling and surprisingly complex. [via The 405]
