For fans of Arthur Russell, Suzanne Ciani and Autechre.

Mica Levi, aka Micachu, and classical cellist Oliver Coates have announced their collaborative debut album Remain Calm via London/Berlin label Slip.

With its roots in an impromptu NTS show (listen below), where the duo combined fragments Coates’ compositions with Levi’s electronic productions, the album is said to blur the lines of modern composition, grime, techno and drone.

“Snatches of Oliver’s cello ring through the album’s core with an inquisitive curiosity that is transcribed into raw, analogue sculptures of visionary soundtrack of contemporary urban life,” reads the press release. Remain Calm cites the work of Broadcast, The Black Dog, Arthur Russell, Suzanne Ciani, Andy Stott and Autechre as primary influences.

Earlier this year Oliver Coates dropped new album Upstepping and contributed to the Radiohead’s A Moon Shaped Pool. Meanwhile Mica Levi, known best for Micachu & The Shapes and that incredible Under The Skin soundtrack, will score the upcoming Jackie Kennedy biopic starring Natalie Portman.
