Peckham’s YAM Records launches label with Chaos In The CBD 12″

There’s a new label on the block.

South London vinyl hub YAM Records will continue its support of local talent with a 12″ from New Zealand-via-Peckham producers Louis and Ben Helliker-Hales bka Chaos In The CBD.

The Auckland duo had an international breakthrough year in 2015 after dropping a clutch of wide-ranging house EPs on Church, Rhythm Section International and Amadeus Records.

Their YAM 001 12″ kicks off with ‘Global Erosion’ on the A-side, which features Isaac Aesili on horn and live percussion duties. On the flip is ‘Background Explorer’, an eight-minute heads-down joint which circles around heavy percussion, soft pads and distant rainforest calls. Due at the end of the month, stream ‘Background Explorer’ below.

Last year, we explored how YAM and other record shops are shaping local culture in South East London.
