The XX’s new single ‘On Hold’ gets 7” release
With a B-side etching.
The XX will give the first single from their upcoming album, I See You, a 7” pressing.
The run of 3000 copies includes a B-side etching and the packaging “mire board with debossed X and track title,” Modern Vinyl reports.
‘On Hold’, which you can hear below, samples Hall & Oates’ 1981 classic ‘I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)’.
Material for the album was recorded between March 2014 and August 2016 in New York, Marfa, Reykjavik, Los Angeles and London and is said to feature “a more outward-looking, open and expansive approach” than the trio’s first two long players.
The 7” lands on 9 December, ahead of the album release on 13 January 2017.
