A rare clip from Mr Bongo’s timely documentary on Brazil’s Tropicalia movement from the late 60’s.

The Brazilian equivalent of The Beatles’ drowned-in-sound Shea Stadium concert in 1965, the clip sees bossa star, political activist and vital contributor to the Tropcailia movement Caetano Veloso perform in front of hoards of screaming fans. Swamped by the media Veloso is the picture of calm amidst the frenzy, painting a vivid picture of the youthful hysteria of Tropicalismo at its height.

Documenting the first Brazilian revolution in sound in the late 60’s, Tropicalia tells the full story of what was one of the most iconic cultural movements of the 20th century, drawing on the experience of legends Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Os Mutantes, Tom Zé, Jorge Ben and of course Veloso himself.
