In his latest Listening Room session, resident host Jonny Trunk takes his audience deep into the world of KPM, the library music company founded in 1959 by Keith Prowse and Maurice Kain.

Across roughly 80 minutes, Trunk works chronologically through the label's history, from the early 78 RPM Brown Series through the landmark 1000 Series, pulling out rare pressings and sharing the stories behind them. Along the way he covers Laurie Johnson's "Las Vegas," the Alan Hawkshaw Hammond showcases, Basil Kirchin's experimental recordings, the Mastermind theme, and a eyebrow raising Deep Throat B-side.

Trunk discovered library music by accident in the mid-'90s, finding a Bosworth Library record that looked like a science album. "It's all the music on the telly that sits in the background of all these things I know, and you're never told what it is," he explains. "It's like the wallpaper behind all the TV shows I was watching."
