A personal journey through Lovers Rock.
Linett Kamala, artist and pioneering DJ in UK sound system culture, presents Lovers Rock in the latest session at The Listening Room at 180 Studios.
Alongside selections from her vinyl collection, Linett shares memories of what life was like growing up in Britain during the 1970s and '80s, having been born in England to Jamaican parents.
Her selections feature music from Louisa Mark, Janet Kay, Carroll Thompson, and more.
“I played a lot of female artists because… they have unfortunately at times been written out of sound system history,” she explains.
