Doug Aitken releases Lightscape on vinyl via VF
The record draws on improvisatory recording workshops between Aitken and the Los Angeles Master Chorale
Doug Aitken has released Lightscape, a nine-track song cycle that blends the human voice with kinetic electronic soundscapes, pressed by The Vinyl Factory.
The record grew out of improvisational recording workshops between Aitken and the Los Angeles Master Chorale. Working with conductor and Chorale artistic director Grant Gershon, Aitken developed a set of choral compositions that expand from a singular voice to a chorale of over 50 singers.

Doug Aitken’s Lightscape at the Shed in New York City is now open, running through September 13th.
The immersive hallucinatory film and music ballad comes alive via a series of musical activations, beginning with the Los Angeles Master Chorale and followed by William Basinski, Suzanne Ciani, Sun Ra Arkestra and more.
In 2015, The Vinyl Factory partnered with Aitken and the Barbican to bring his Station to Station exhibition to the UK, installing the VF Press on-site to press records made during the month-long event, including releases by Mica Levi and Savages.
Aitken's work New Era also featured in TRANSFORMER: A Rebirth of Wonder, the 2018 group exhibition co-presented by The Store X The Vinyl Factory at 180 Studios.
