Riddim section.

Horace Andy’s classic six-track album Dance Hall Style has been treated to a new vinyl reissue, courtesy of Wackie’s, the label on which is was first released.

Over thirty five years since it dropped in 1982, Dance Hall Style remains one of the high-points of Andy’s storied career, and hears the roots legend playing bass, rhythm and lead guitar, over tense, dubbed-out riddims.

Featuring classics like ‘Lonely Woman’, which Andy cut for Derrick Harriott in 1972, and a version of Lloyd Robinson’s 1969 hit ‘Cuss Cuss’, the stand-out here is the haunting ‘Spying Glass’, which would be re-imagined by Massive Attack (with Andy on vocals) on their 1994 album Protection.

Last reissued by Wackie’s in 2003, the new pressing is available to order here.
